Ok I'm sure this has been answered before. please don't tell me that we only have Delta and Alaskan to choose from for our ID travel in the USA.
Has anyone had any luck with AA and UA with the stupid letter?

AA works pretty well, after using iflystaff to book the eticket you need to list here:
Interline Fare Calculator
Choose the eticket option and find the flight you want. You can also get an idea of loads on this site. You'll need to input the eticket number from the company confirmation email.
Just a warning, the loads inside the US are extremely full every day. In the past four years they've shrunk domestic capacity to increase revenue, and there are a lot less seats. I've mostly used USAir and American, don't know how it is on the others. Virgin America will allow you to jump seat if there is a seat in the back, USAir sometimes as well.

Is there somewhere where you can check which flight is looking better than the other before you book the ticket. I believe now the ticket issued is only for the one flight.
We used to use the zed websight that gave smily faces etc.

I'm still able to use flyzed.com or if that doesn't work try myidtravel web site. Select the flight you're planning to travel on and it should give the smiley face before you have to pay for it. It's a little pain, but doable. Do not know if the same goes with IJourney. Good luck.

Ticket is same as old paper zed. You can change
flights. You just need to provided operating carrier
your ticket number and relist. Gate agent of flight you
didn't get on can generally do this ( in North America)
Edit- ringing the north American carriers resv.line often
produces actual load. They're all very helpful.

You know there is a problem with our staff travel, when pprune produces quick and more accurate answers.
My next question...ticket refunds.
I'm looking to issue tickets on AA and Delta. Has anyone done any refunds with these carriers?
Is it painless? Where and how do you do it?
One more thing how do we list with Delta?

I've done a refund on Delta, Jetblue (myidtravel site). Just click on the refund on the top the page. My credit card was refunded within 24 hours. If you are using IJourney (AA ticket), you won't be charged for the ticket until you travel, so no refund needed.
No need to do a listing, if you are using myidtravel site since listing is done automatically when you pay for the ticket. I believe you need to make a listing, if using IJourney (AA ticket) @http://ifc.id90.com. You'll find the specific information (such as username, PW) you need to input on IJourney under Interline Listing Procedures.

If you mean the IFC.id90 site, then no that is not correct. IntraCX travel department "policies and procedures" for listing will directly link you and give you the user name and password. I cannot give you the info over a public forum.

I just got back from my trip to the USA. Be aware that the stanby travel is a huge mess overthere. I found out the normal passengers also go on stby. As a CX employee, even the passangers dogs have higher priority!
I tried it once got bumped off three flights that were "wide open" then hired a car and drove to destination.
On one flight there was a 50 seater airplane with 24 seats open. I started off being #2-3-4-5 (4 of us). I got bumped as number 22-23-24-25. There were still people behind me on the list! That meant that there were over 50 stbys for a 50 seater plane!
For my return i ended up getting a full fare with South West. They even give you two free check in bags! ( normally $50 per bag)

Yup. I haven't tried to non-rev any significant distance in the States in about four years. The one exception I found was a December weekend right after the Thanksgiving travel push and three weeks before the Christmas push. I can't think of another good time to try standby travel.
The ex-wife just took the kids up north to visit her family. They started Saturday at 5:30AM, couldn't get on two flights to ATL, went to LGA, bus to JFK, and then a commuter to BDL where she had a rental car waiting to drive another few hours to a lake. A whole day affair for what should have been a three hours flight time plus the drive. And she has a 1998 hire date traveling on her own airline.
Purchasing advance positive space tickets is the only way to go. You'll end up spending more on hotels and rental cars when you get stuck trying to go standby then buying a ticket.
