Toss..........Welcome back.......!!
Because you flew upside down and said "Yes sir" all your life, how does that make you a better pilot? Do tell.....!!

As for the "gutless" comments, I see you all have put your real names here, so I don't get your point, sorry.

It seems crwjerk-off has never had a real Capt Toss experience, and what a treat it is. But its good to have Tossy back on PPrune! Your becoming a legend on the 777 fleet.

How very clever of you to name the Skipper. So what about his side of the story? You hide on here but give out real names(of people that YOU perceive are wrongdoers) - how weak and pathetic is that. Were you a bully in your younger days perhaps? Cyber bullying is the modern way of doing that but is worse as YOU remain untouchable, again weak and pathetic.I hope Hong Kong soon comes into line with other major countries and legislates to stop this blight. Remember too that intimidation of a fellow colleague would mean a termination of your employ with CX. Maybe if you are that stressed by it all you should leave and be a happy chappy with another airline? Sounds like a good option maybe?DS!

With the reduction in pay scales over the years, looks like route runner might have gone from a "million dollar moron" to just a plain moron.

Crwjerk, suppose you are lucky you can name and shame, hidden behind your pprune identity. I know an FO who worked a G day to re-arrange his roster to get home to a mother facing a cancer induced operation as the company would not help. The name and shame and email that followed from another FO led to a rather uncharacteristuc comment? 'rip his F***ing throat out one day!'.....and I really think he will have a try!

Try and come up with something a little bit more constuctive than that, please.
My point is don't encourage cyber bullying. I am coming across it more and more in CX. It is not pleasant. This is a rumour/discussion site- let's keep it that way.

Atlas Shrugged. Although it is virulently anti-union, and I think that Ayn Rand would probably be on the side of Swire management, rather than the workers

Freehills,

I'm not entirely sure she would, as this book was written some 50 years ago, in a time where the average CEO salary was around 40 times that of the lowest paid employee in the respective firms....and no golden parachutes!

We are now at a time where the average CEO pay is some 600 times that of the lowest paid employee.....and a CEO is even likely to be handsomely paid off, even if they run a firm into the ground.

There is a huge income gap in many of the leading economies in the world...and if anything, socialism has moved up a ladder, from the blue colour worker into executive suites. Bonuses are now paid in firms, which just a couple of years ago were standing at the financial cliff.

I don't think, that is the case in CX, but it certainly is in the case of many companies in the USA, which is the setting in this book....

I happen to think, that the top management in CX are acually very good in what they are doing and Hong Kong as such has one of the most business friendly climates...

Could that possibly be, that John Galt and his followers went to Hong Kong 50 yeas ago?

I wonder.

What exactly has management of CX ever done that one could call exceptional?

Name an example!

CX is what it is largely because of it's home:
it did grow with Hong Kong, with China, with the new airport, the airport express etc.

I say: managing Cathay is way easier and less challenging compared to any European or American carrier. In these countries you are facing low growth, higher competition and stronger labour unions.

If I had a family member or close friend going for a serious op I would not be fit to work. I wouldn't even waste my time with the 3rd floor.

I've never heard of the company saying no to compassionate leave which is what that would come under.

Ahh Leave at last

Well it looks like the triple 7 crews will be finding Leave even harder to find after this pm's announcement, whilst the good old -400 should be able to take most of the next two years off!
