C'mon Dan, it's a perfectly innocent question from a mentally challenged person who obviously cannot read, or thinks 1000 posts against HKA is just sour grapes.
BMWM5, if you save evry single cent you earn at HKA for 20 years, and live with 5 other HKA refugees, you will be able to afford your username.
Good luck
Oh, how rude of me, to answer your question :
No need to prepare, they will be so surprised that you actually showed for the interview ( knowing the Ts and Cs ) that they will forget to ask you the 3 questions they found in the 737 FCOM the previous night. Just make sure that any " penmanship " in the log book is not too obvious, things like a 28 year old with 20,000 TRE on 747 they might check up on.
Tip: If you worked for the SIN air force, flying loose formation in a Marchetti is counted as multi engine command time > 30,000kg, I know this because management log it that way.
Cheers

Hey Fooey and AA
I would love your input on who I should apply for that is hiring in Hong Kong right now. Please dont say Cathay, ive seen their new package and accepting that would make me feel worthless and mostly shame.
the fact of the matter is that there isnt much out there anymore unless you fancy the desert. I dont. My home country is rubbish for pilots.
So enlighten me please, what companies do you know of that hire expats, treat them well and pay them well, but are not in countries covered in sand.

Can't handle these guys anymore.
AAIGUY & HKFOOEY, you should be ashamed of yourselves and now you both want to bring down the name of Dragonair as well, making us all look like schmucks.
It's time you give it up...your posts on this & the other thread are pathetic. To even contemplate saying about an air crash is beyond me.
You say that HKA will put one in...let's look at the facts:
Wasn't it our 320 going into HKT that exceeded all stable approach criteria, descent rates, speeds, etc...finally only getting back to Vapp over the fence?
Wasn't it one of our 330's over the bay on the way to India that nearly lost complete control?
Wasn't it a CX 747 that had no autopilot engaged on approach and was heading towards Lantau?
Be careful what you wish for!
You talk about professionals, yet let's look at your history AAI:
Played the politician at HKE and had one of the senior Flt Ops shoved out (non-Singa too)...You 'can' all the Singaporeans, yet you pushed what you are saying should be your ally?
As for Fooey:
The angriest pilot on Earth! Abuses his own work mates on the DPA forum, what an upstanding work colleague. Any wonder we tagged you as the most obvious person NEVER to get a cmd at KA huh
Let's look at more facts (figures, bits & pieces supplied by a buddy who is at HKA - and yeah I have asked intensely, as I see it as an option to KA...I want a command while I'm still breathing, compared to promises of aircraft coming - anyone seen an order yet for these? & I want a life too):
And before you say it, they have just upgraded the 1st 2 F/O's, yes they have a cmd course in place, this is fact...not dreams & memories of 3-4 yrs ago!
F/O's now take home more in the hand at HKA than at KA
HKA82500 (more than this above 50hrs flying) - KA60-70
Cpts the same
HKA121500 (same as above for > 50hrs flying) - KA100 up
Gratuity at HKA Yr 1 - 50 Yr 2-100 Yr 3 - 150
They also did profit share last year.
OK, so KA gets housing & CEA, that is the big difference. But consider most guys at HKA are commuting home & living in places like Phuket! So they get more than $$$...they get lifestyle and savings on the dollar conversion, living in paradise compared to the pollution that Fooey is always on about.
My buddy has had 15 & 18 days off in the last 2 months - some of the blocks of days off 5, 7, 4 and yes, they can do days off back-to-back from one month to another. We can't!
HKA put in roster requests for days off upto the 6th day of the month prior, we have to do it, what? 3mths? I've forgotten, because I just don't bother anymore, don't get them most of the time and if I ever did, they want me at work with a 6am sign on the day after...thanks.
Holidays 2mths prior, us? a year +...HKA might not get 42 days a year like us, but do you need to when you get rosters with so many days off in blocks anyway?
So we get coin, but we fly 20-22 days a month and work for a GMO that said from the time we sign on at the start of your working week to the end, KA owns our ass and will do what they want with us"...now that's living!
HKA guys & girls fly & overnight in: Moscow (3 days), Maldives (3 days), Bali (24hrs), Bangkok (36hrs)...London & Australia coming in the New Year. Where do we go at KA? Chengdu, Nanjing, etc....min rest overnights, oh breath in that good air!
So AAI & Fooey, don't throw stones, the falling broken glass will get you where it hurts. Now go away, just go away.
OK rant over, please don't see AAIGUY & HKFOOEY as indicative of all pilots at KA, we're not!

The CX cadet scheme abs AHK defo pay more.
Word last week was KA was contacting some old
interviews they couldn't take on.
Metrojet pays more.. As does Tag and Jet
Aviation.
HKA is the lowest paying job.
More than that. The total package is
where the real issue is. Staff travel , medical? Ect

Cathay's deso and cadet scheme deffinitely does not pay as much. TAG and Metro are not airlines. AHK is about par with HKA but its alot of back of the clock operations and if you think that Dragon will fire up recruitment again and offer the same excellent package now that Cathay has been gutted, you are dillusional. Dont get me wrong, im not saying that HKA is awsome, im just saying that the race to the bottom in the industry has hit everywhere, to the point that one can make a case that HKA is the best offer in town at the moment

Cathay s non repayable million dollar loan,
Medical and staff travel alone put it above HKA.
But whatever, go to HKA a enjoy.
It's great .. You'll love it.
As I'm leaving on 2 months leave tommorow,
I shan't keep up with this thread.
HKA leave.. HA!

Well thought out response AAI. Just goes to show your intelligence is an insult to all at KA, I'm embarrassed to say I work with you.
Staff travel...let's see. We get 4 FOC's at KA and consistently screwed over by CX trying to get on flights, let's not even look at the way Staff Travel treats us.
HKA - 5 FOC's, they can put ANYONE on their list, and not just 1 person! They can jump seat for free on their freighters and ZED fares with a growing list of airlines. As I said previously, guys are regularly commuting, some as far as Germany & Spain...if their staff travel was no good, they wouldn't be doing that.
I last remember when we had freighters at KA we were never allowed near them!
Medical...yeah KA's is just the pinnacle of aviation ain't it? That's why it has been a fight to get the company to get it improved for years. Anyone who is smart enough has some sort of health cover as a back up to the crap the companies offer. Geez, even a mate of mine at CX has the extra cover and it proved to be the smartest thing ever for his family when it really hit the fan.
As for CX's non-repayable loan...try re-wording that to bond / it is repayable if you leave, etc. Stat facts, not twist it.
Let's not forget, Southwest started out the same way and now they they are the highest paid in the US. If HKA want to expand at the rate they want, etc...the package is one of the things that will need to improve.
Have to start somewhere I suppose, and been in there early is better than waiting to see it hit the fan (just ask ex-Ansett guys about that).

Ha, the forgivable loan, that is the best you can do. What a joke, you must be mentally deficient if you think that the forgivable loan could be counted as pay. Might be best for you if you just bow out of the conversation and try to salvage a bit of dignity mate, hahahhah, forgivable loan. Seriously, the company is going to loan you money to pay them to train you to make money for them, and if you stick around for six years they wont make you pay them back. You dont see something wrong with that logic? That is not pay. Cathays new package is crap no ifs ands or buts about it. How many highly qualified experienced crews are they attracting these days? Damn few that is certain.
