When were you hired and onto what fleet? As many have said, the scales that you have published are the COS 99 numbers. COS 08 came into effect if you STARTED 01 Jan 2008 or later.

Somebody please post the real COS 08 numbers.

There is no Unified payscale for Hong Kong. COS08 = COS99 pay for Hong Kong based crew, excluding Hong Kong Freighter which has a different payscale.

Canada, US, New Zealand, Australia and Europe bases have different unified payscales which are less than COS99. Canada & US unified payscales have the biggest difference to B-scale, while Australian unified actually pays better for certain SFO yearly increments.

Seems that North American based COS99 FO's lose the most, with the Freighter FO's being disadvantaged even more, having the lowest payscale.

there is NO Hong Kong COS08 pay-scale. Only bases have a COS08 unified pay-scale.

When COS08 introduced the GMA wrote the following on the 08. October 2007:

"The Hong Kong FO B scale will remain unchanged (except for the increases referred to in the salary section above) and therefore, Second Officers who join starting from January will see the Unified scales apply only if they choose to go on a base as an FO. There is no plan to recruit Passenger DEFOs into Hong Kong at this time.

Current FOs and SOs will keep their current A, B or Freighter scales and will not be asked to accept the UFO scales."

Compairing the US B-Scale(1999) to the Unified COS08

B-Scale COS08

1SFO $116040 $110604
2SFO $118920 $112824
3SFO $121680 $115068
4SFO $124320 $117372
5SFO $126840 $119724
6SFO $129240 $122124
7SFO $131640 $122124
8SFO $133680 $122124
9SFO $135840 $122124
10SFO$137760 $122124

So over a ten year period you would take a US$89748 PAYCUT plus if you factor in the 15.5% cash in lieu of p-fund it US$103660 PAYCUT.

Including the P-fund contribution, a year 10 SFO will be $1600/mo worse off than present. Effectively, they have taken away your P-fund contribution. You didn't really expect to save for retirement did you..?

HKG Fo's
My memory agrees with GTC on the last time this proposal was rolled out
Ie any SO in HKG is not worse off as long as they don't bid for a base in their first 4 years as a FO. However if you bid for a base in Year 1-4 you effectively work as a FO on the same money that you earnt as a SO.

But we all need to wait and see what is actually proposed/offered/ pineappled

No, it's not. Just looked, and the only COS I can get is COS99, whether it's the HKG COS or one of the based COS. COS08 is not available. Presumably, it's only available for viewing to those that are employed on it.
If someone has the COS08 based payscales, please post them!

Funny. I'm on '99, and when I go on there I can see all of the COS08, including the original one, the UK one, German, and even the new VETA, USAB etc... effective 17th apr09. As a matter of fact, I can't even see the 99 anymore. Which goes lenght to tell me what my actual chances of staying on it are...

CoS08 itself is only available on CrewDirect to those employed on it. The payscales (unified, etc.) shown within CoS99 are ALMOST the same as those in CoS08, EXCEPT that the US based payscale, shown as "Effective 1 January 2008" which we received in that August, 2007, email shows two columns, one effective 01.01.08, the other effective 01.01.09, the second being higher (a raise in payscales). The one in the CoS08 of those employed under it shows "Effective 1 July 2008," is HIGHER than the one effective 1 January 2008 for the first few years of FO, but is LOWER for later years of FO.

I think the starting salary for UFOs was raised between 1 January 2008 and 1 July 2008, but the annual increase in ALL UFO payscales was removed from the 1 July 2008 payscale printout.

Hmm...

So let me ge this straight... From what I read, if you are a freighter based FO on USAB cos 99, and happen to choose to go on cos. 08 as a result of this offer, are you no longer freighter only?! Or maybe this is part of details coming out on monday!?!

And also, no 15.5% P fund with cos 08??

I have a US Base Unified Scale in my stack of stuff which lists the Senior First Officer monthly salary W.E.F 01.01.09 right next to the above rates.

These 01.01.09 US Unified rates are a bit higher.

Were these rates foregone for some reason? They are better but still below B scale.

Also, what else goes with COS08, I hear only two weeks leave or is it four? Certainly inferior to COS99. Too early to tell, but so far this deal does not pass the smell test. I will not take a pay cut to stay here for RA65.

So besides the difference in pay, COS08 also has no 15.5% and less leave?? Is this correct?
