R.M. Williams in HK?
Does anyone on here know if there is a store in Hong Kong that sells RM Williams boots? I have been looking for a pair and I cant find any shops in Asia. Any help is appreciated.

Can't help about the buying, but they do repair online too. After a suspiciously short couple of years my soles wore through, so I sent them back to Oz by slow mail and back they came with soles twice the thickness of the originals. Great friendly service too, though around 30% of the price of the boot.
They will probably see me out now, they look good for 30 years.

Hi Crj
I dont think there is one to tell you the truth.
However I will also strongly recommend not buying the boots directly from R M williams outlet. They are expensive.
After 5 yrs on Baxters same stuff different I had to replace them alst yr cas I forgot to take em when I moved bases ..anyway...cut the story short I went hunting for one in Sydney found a place in Camperdown which sells the exact R M williams originals ofcourse for about Aus $100 cheaper.
I went back to R M williams on George St and asked why the price difference would you match the price they said sorry.
These guys buy them in bulk directly and can sell it at whatever price apparently is what I found out. SoMine set me back Aus $270.
Now your probably wondering how is the above info going to help you. Well if you pvt msg me or email, as long as you know the exact size and style I will be happy to buy one for you and send it to you (or can give it to a crew if you know any who will be stopping by Sydney) if you r interested and ofcourse xfr me the appropriate money.
Well will leave it with you, and for an xtra 40 $ you can get a tope they call it its like a protective thing underneath and shoes last longer that takes a few more days at the local shop in newtown where I have been having them done for the last 7 yrs.
Take Care
Regards

I am a little unsure about my size, so I am hesitant to get someone to buy them for me. Looks like I will be making a trip to SYD in the near future....

I just came back from Aus....picked up two pair of RM's in MEL, airside...they were tax free and also received the crew discount...they came out at about AU$275.00 a pair...a good deal considering I had seen them in the shop (country town) for around AU$335.00?

Besides the fact that these boots are cp,I might be mistaken for an Auzzie by wearing them...so I will definately NOT get a pair, even if they are in Hongkers...
I found the full leather sole hard and sometimes lacking in grip. I know some people butcher new ones by adding a Topy synthetic sole.
I would recommend the RM synthetic sole from the word go. Good grip and more comfortable for your sole.
No need to take casual shoes away with you on an overnight, they go well with jeans and some people who shall remain nameless even wear them with shorts.
Worth every cent.

Hi geh065,
There are actually two RM shops in MEL airport....one is "landside", just prior to the entry doors to immigration, the other is through passport control on the left, just past Starbucks Coffee...
I selected what I was looking for before I went through passport control as they did not have the size I was looking for, however they did have them at the second shop, through passport control.
Cheers,

I also recommend RM's with the synthetic sole for aviation use by Australian pilots (pilots of other nationalities only with prior authorisation!).
RM's are surprisingly comfortable and are very good in sub-zero temps, in tropical heat and typhoon conditions. They are excellent in providing protection in wet/flooded conditions and in fuel spills. They provide superb rudder and footbrake feel and control. Furthermore, the block heel prevents the foot sliding up the rudder pedals during emergency braking.
They are equally at home and look very fashionable with slacks or jeans in the bar after work and they save carrying an extra pair of shoes in the flyaway kit.
When they finally wear out, send them back to the factory and they are completely restitched and remade with new soles for about $150...as good as new.
If they had been invented by the Yanks, they would have been a controlled technology export!

Go for Baxter Boots
http://site.baxterfootwear.com.au/
They are half the price of RM's and have the same durability
My first pair circa 1996 was A$70 and one re-tread circa 2007 A$60.
My second pair was A$140 circa 2007 bought at Lowes in Sydney.
The reason I moved to Baxter is that I met the family due to school connections in Sydney and am sure they would ship to HK.
But as Flexi intimates...the RM's may be better for the check rides..
