FAA type rating limitation
A friend of mine just received his FAA CE-500 type rating. I noticed that on his certificate it says under XIII. Limitations: CE-500 SIC required.
I went to the same school and do NOT have this limitation on my license. What am I missing here? The only difference between the checkrides of my friend and me is that he combined his ATP and type rating ride.

CE500b et al
That restriction refers to the CE501SP or 500SP aircraft.
I have the CE500 on my license. As the original aircraft was certified under FAR/JAR25 and requires 2 pilots by it's type certificate for all operations, I have no restrictions on my ATP.
However if we are talking about the SP (Single Pilot) aircraft and Checkride was done with a SIC, then a restriction would be appropriate.
If I recall SP restrictions correctly, following conditions must be met to be able to fly any of the CE jets certified for SP alone:
1. Appropriate type rating approved for SP
2. Aircraft equipped for SP operation according to AFM
- Operating autopilot
- Headset with mic
- Approved abbreviated checklist
- Speed bugs on airspeed indicator
- Storage space that can be reached from pilot seat
3. Pilot must occupy left seat
Cheers
