Unhappy No 2nd Stage for me

Well Gents, I found out this evening I will not be going to Hong Kong for round two. I wish the best of luck to my competitors on the next leg. I have included the questions I was asked for anyone who is interviewing in the near future.

Personal

1) career history starting after getting my CPL
2) History of my airline, what do they operate, how many pilots
3) What did you do prior to flying as you started late
4) Did you always want to be a pilot
5) Why do you want to live in Hong Kong
6) Why choose you?, quickly in 3 reasons
7) Why Cathay Pacific Airways
8) Would you go back to live in Fiji
9) What does your wife do
10) If she couldn't get a work visa what would she do
11) What do you like to do

He then explained the whole process and timeline, 1st interview, 2nd interview, then the start date 10-12 months later. He asked as I'm not flying currently how would I prepare for the next stage (I said the sim in YVR)

Next was the tech ,

1) What is the weather in Hong Kong right now
2) What time of year would you expect Typhoons
3) Other than the layer of warm water what else is required for a Typhoon
4) If flight planning, what would you have to consider if icing is forcast
2 models on the table
5) What are these two aircraft
6) you say the A340-300, what are the differences between it and the A340-600
7) What is different from the 747-400 and the 747-300
8) what is the difference from the RB211-524G and the RB211-524-H/T
9) You mentioned Winglets, why does it have them
10) Are you familiar with the 777, does it have winglets, why not
11) Explain Dutch Roll
12) What do we have to prevent it
13) Describe the take off segments
14) What is this formulae L=CL1/2pV2S
15) what velocity is V2(velocity squared) refering to
16) Drew a speed vs drag graph with induced and profile drag curve on it and a combined drag curve
with a mark at the bottom (Vmd), it was unlabeled and he asked what it was.
17) Asked what Katabatic wind was
18) asked what the opposite wind was (anabatic)

They were both very pleasant and the whole interview was relatively relaxed and as enjoyable as a job interview can be.

I only remembered about 10 of the tech exam questions

1) What is deviation
2) What is the least distance between two places
3) Where is the greatest distance between the meridians
4) If the station pressure was 998 and you accidently entered 989 would the Alt under/over read or be the same
5) Longitudinal Stability, choose the right one
6)What does Oscillatory stability depend on (fin, dihedral,)
7) Which is true TAS=MN * LSS, and two other ones that were wrong but similar
8) If you gradually reduce your airspeed but maintain your altitude what happens to your AOA
a)increase
b)decrease
c)increase then decrease
9) What does Dihedral affect (longitudinal, lateral, oscillatory)

Cheers PJ Slick
