Great North Air Ambulance G-HEMS

A bit of local info
A convoy of 3 Fiat Pandas left Carlisle at 10:00 local travelling to Paris with the plan to race the Orient Express to Istanbul starting tomorrow.

Amongst others they aim to raise up to £10,000 for the charity

On of them is "crewed" by the pilot & a paramedic of the above a/c

Joking aside, good luck to them.

absolutely true, there's a fourth one joining them in the midlands.

Apparently there is an owners club, the founder of which recently drove one across the states.

Having had the misfortune of driving a Fiat Panda for a week, I appreciate what a feat this will be - I feel their pain! Back pain that is! The driver will need a paramedic on board - hopefully one trained in chiropractic!

Cheers

I understood that the Panda 4x4 was quite an able car for its spec and power.

Good luck for the trip

Tell you what though, I live on the normal helicopter approach to one of the hospitals G-HEMS uses. You can't half tell it's approaching at speed, it produces quite a "snarl"

Btw anyone involved with the a/c can you PM me

Congratulations to the four Fiat Panda Teams who today (Wednesday) finally arrived in Istanbull and thus beating the Orient Express into the Station by just over an hour.

Fantastic Effort

All four teams seen here on the Platform next to The Orient Express.

Well done everybody!

Mmmmhhh, the steering wheels are on the wrong side.
Well done to all the crews who despite the shortcoming above were able to achieve a well deserved victory.
