John Cochrane - Obituary

It is with much sadness that I read in Flight International today of John Cochrane's passing away to cancer on November 4th. I had the privilege to meet John, and his delightful wife Julie, at RAF Akrotiri in 2004 when he delivered a talk to our flying club on the Concorde. He was a very kind man who had time for anyone interested in flying and aeroplanes. I felt truly honoured to have met John, shared his company and followed him through the RAF College albeit 53 years later. He had an amazing career and, despite being having a lower profile than his colleague (Brian Trubshaw) on the maiden Concorde flights, John was no less of a pivotal aviator in the flying and test pilot world. A full obituary from The Times can be found at the link below. Much missed and a sad loss.

*salute*

It's always important to remember your CP - and what a CP.

I went to boarding school with his son, I will never forget the day he brought one of the protoypes over and lit the burners.

A truly exceptional man.
