I see that KLMuk Engineering are having a hangar extension at NWI to handle their Mesaba/NWA RJ-85 handback contract. Are they taking on new engineers, does anybody know?

Permie Rates start at about 24/25K plus Shift, Approvals, etc.

They have been trying to get engineers for ages, good luck at the wages they offer for B1's etc, not far off what car MOT'ers get, even in Norwich. Unsurprisingly, they have had the same jobs advertised on their website repeatedly for ages.

Worked up there for many years, thankfully no longer, so have started to earn 'real world' money insetad of a slap in the face with a wet fish every month! Nice part of the UK though, but that's about it.

Why not contract out the work to an Eastern European 145? That seems to be the fad right now.

I would suggest that's why the place is still there at all, relatively lower wages. It is East Anglia after all, does that count as Eastern Europe!?

IMHO this is a good thing for engineering in general, and very good for selected candidates. - No! I don't work for them, but I did once!

Would that be the same rag that proudly announced the £1m opening of a 'new hangar' that actually dates to the second world war. Extend it a bit, stick some new doors on one end, bugger me, it's a new hangar!

Visited NWI yesterday. Awash with ex-Mesaba RJ-85 aircraft (11 minimum) . KLM and Sprayavia must be rubbing their hands!
Agree with comments about "new" hangar althought alot of money has been spent on it! Apparently the CAA were none too impressed about the plastic doors and security concerns.

been to norwich town ok my instructors especially alan o rourke was fabulous but the a17 is only fit for tractors, and as for exeter that is the worst place in the world when i worked as a mech in 2000 found the hangar inspectors didn`t have a clue about a/c maintenance but after got licensed had my 146 course there and great instructors
