A/D on all RR engines.
Anyone know what the latests A/D is on the RR 522/524 engines?
Completion date has to be done by Aug 25 2006 my sources tell me.
Was told this was at a costs of 70,000 usd per engine.
Any idea how long it takes to accomplish this and whats involved?

Yes indeed, 'tis fast approaching, this year for -22B engines and (IIRC) next year for the -524 varient.
HSGB and shaft location difficulties, some have complied already, some haven't.

There may well be no extension possible, as these AD's were published some time ago, and operators were given ample time to comply....or at least that was the theory.
Time will tell.
There have been a couple of HSGB failures/fires, and I do personally know of several fan locator bearing failures (I had two), but no shaft migration incidents that I know of...

Thanks Matkat and 411.
Not sure if this is the same A/D I was told about but will research further.
Some of the areas seem the same.
Will find out the exact A/D and reply.

What I think that I'm saying is that if the Thai's regulatory agency agrees to abide by CAA regulations, then they must enforce a CAA issued AD. However with that said, if the AD was issued by the FAA then it's up to other states to decide whether to enforce it. from my underatanding most states other than the US, Europeans, do accept either the US or European ADs, but not necessarily both.
With that said, it would in my view be of significant interest if the CAA has not accepted and endorsed an AD issued by the FAA, thus leaving many other states to rely on their own.
I hope I haven't confused this issue too much
