Wot was that???

Just got back from a 'sortie' in a Cherokee this morning, shooting a couple of fairly mundane NDB's at WOL (without a cloud in sight) and then driving back along the Appin Road, beautiful day, Virginia Trioli on the radio, all very relaxed sipping on an ice cold coke- when out of nowhere this big black sinister looking swept wing jet comes over the tops of the trees, making so much noise I dropped my coke (Cocacola that is). It seemed to fill the windscreen for a split second and was gone (I'd have been worried in the Cherokee but not in the trusty old Camry - I was now on the ground after all!). I guess (hope) it was an F1-11, heading southish (really could not tell it was going so fast...) I am fairly used to fast low flying military once living near Cottesmore in the UK, having Harriers and Tornados roaring overhead at low level, but this guy left 'em for dead. It seemed really fast and really low. Once over the intrusion into my semi-comotose state, I was hoping he'd be back but no, just that (very) quick flash between the trees on the Appin Road - Scared me s---less but really brightened my day!

Then I find this when I get back...

Appin Road does tend to follow a ridgeline for much of it.... maybe he had to come up to go over the road!

I doubt there'd be noise complaints - not much other than trees around there and thr road was very quiet at that time. Funny thing is I've read so many of those LJR notams and never seen a bloddy thing - then I get a close encounter in a Camry!
