You could be living out here in the technologically-backward colonies.

A friend lives in a "nice" part of Arlington, Virginia, just 4.5 miles from the White House in Washington. He says he can't get [A]DSL at any speed. I live in a Maryland suburb less than 15 miles from the White House and can't get [A]DSL either.

I can get high-speed access from the cable TV system for about $55 per month (would cost less if I subscribed for their TV service). That includes ISP service.
