Instructing on a Foreign Licence

I know that this subject has been flogged to death but I do have a couple of questions here.
I am the holder of a Canadian Commercal licence with Instructor rating.
Can I legally instruct in the UK without having sat the 9 exams over there. If I was to offer my services for no payment would this make a difference. I am in no way trying to sell my soul here or take jobs away from UK instructors, I am just trying to settle a dispute with a fellow pilot on the same issue.
With the cost of converting over it would probably take forever trying to make my money back anyway.

In a word, no.
