IMC Flight Simulators - What, Where?
Can anyone tell me what flight simulators (and where) are available to the private pilot doing IMC training that qualify as part of the hours required?
Yes, I have MS flight sim and RANT, but they don't count. ;) I would happily do 4 hours on a simulator at 1/4 of the cost of 1 hour in the air, not just to get the few hours off the requirement, but because I would like to spend as much time practising as possible. Thanks SD |

Most approved FNPTs are used by schools who teach for the IR as opposed to the IMC due to the high cost of acquiring and maintenance. If you wish to practice procedures, though not actually flying the aircraft, then RANT is ideal (I have no connection with Oddsoft). Any time spent practicing tracking, holds, approaches, etc will be well worthwhile and reduce the time spent in the aircraft at no cost, since you already have the software. |
Another CFI - Thanks for the reply.
I guess it's a question of looking at the ads section in the aviation mags to see who offers IR courses in the SE and find out if they also have a simulator and use it for IMC. Cheers |
