PPL Records.How long to Keep

Found some old student records in the back of a filing cabinet in one of the class rooms the other day, Some were incomplete, others were of students who never completed their PPL's.

What are the rules concerning the keeping of student records.
How long etc ?
Or where can I find infomation on them. I have made a quick search on CAA FCL web site, but to no avail.

Cheers

I think there is a 3 year legal limit. But you better keep them incase you legally need to prove something.

CAA Standards Doc 11 - PPL exam records to be kept for 42 months; this is the longest an examination paper could be valid for.

JAR-FCL states records at an FTO must be kept for 5 years but does not specify for a Registered Facility.

CAA used to say 3 years but since the exam validity has been extended, 42 months looks like the lower limit with 5 years as the upper limit.
