LAPL

I have been an FI for over 50 years and am still current. I am thinking of downgrading my licence to a LAPL. Will I still be able to instruct.

You’ve been an FI for over 50 years - you should know the answer to that question or certainly know where to look for the answer.

Jrpa28, a LAPL holder cannot provide flight instruction for SEP LAPL/PPL students.

You could consider becoming a GR examiner for LAPL/PPL e-Exams? I am sure that your experience will be valued!

I did look and manage to find the info on line. Thank You. The only reason I asked was because of conflicting information from different sources.

Why downgrade your licence?

It’s hard to see any benefit of paying good money to downgrade and reissue a LAPL. You get those privileges with a self declared medical on your PPL for no cost.

Just no instructing, and with a few specific exceptions, no IFR or flying abroad.

Funny how a Lapl might be considered a lower licence, yet it requires more skill and aptitude to pass in minimum hours, to fly in the same airspace as everyone else..

Living in the mayhem of today I'm amazed that anyone can be so naïve to make such a complacent statement.

I am far from naïve and certainly not complacent. Were I to conduct an AoC on an FI who couldn’t tell me where to find the requirements for and privileges of an FI, I would be marking the fail box. There are stupidly complex regulations but FCL.915.FI.FI is’nt one of them.

All Part FCL licence include LAPL priviledges so effectively you already have one! The privileges exercised depend on the level of medical held.

Will I still be able to instruct?
Not for a Part FCL licence!
