OAT PPL FI Interview
Afternoon guys & girls,
Just wondering if any of you have any information on what goes on in the PPL FI interview at Oxford as I haven't a clue! Thanks, Richard. ps suit or instructor gear? |
They sit you down and ask you questions that you havent a clue how to answer. As for dress code,I would certainly were a suit.
|
Great, no need to brush up then!
With regards to the suit though, I was told there may be a flight test and I don't particularly fancy wearing the pinstripe in an oily plane. Any thoughts? |
Oily plane? At Oxford? Surely not!
|
Just go in your jeans then just incase you have to change the head gasket. No serious a suit is required at any kind of interview and I don't know what they ask at the interview can't be that technical.
|
1) Definately wear a suit.
2) Make sure that your ready to answer questions relating to airlaw, navigational techniques, instructional techniques, etc. 3) Be prepared to give a short brief on any of the intial exercises (Ex 4-13). 4) Make sure that if your asked to fly the sortie that you briefed that the brief and the flight match up. It may sound silly, but the chaps at Oxford like to do things correctly. 5) Be prepared to say "yes" a lot when asked questions like: "would you be prepared to go the extra mile for the student/ company". Good luck. |
Thanks for the help guys, will post result tomorrow just in case someone cares!
|
Appreciate the help guys, I've got the job pending my references. Maybe I'll be able to work my way onto the CISS scheme!
Cheers, RC |
Hi Retro Cowboy - I'm intrigued, what is the CISS scheme? I presume it's not the "CISS my *!*%", or the "CISS my life goodbye" scheme?
Do tell please. Thanks, P |

Congratulations on getting the job but what about the interview?
Was a suit required? What was the interview like? Can you give us a few of the questions? |
Yes, I did wear a suit, and it was probably appropriate for Oxford.
I had about a 45 min interview with a senior FI who was a decent chap, gave him a brief on Ex 6 for 10 mins and then he asked questions on all sorts afterwards (I think we somehow got to mercator charts or something!) and checked log books etc. Then an interview with the ops manager and HR manager for about an hour which was very relaxed. Just a general chat about my goals in the industry, past training and my availability etc. All in all it went well, though I have to take a flight test sometime in the next few days for standardisation which is fair enough. Hope this helps, RC |
