Night requirement for BCPL/IR
I know it sounds stupid but I am a FAA instructor and I am not aware of regulations for CAA. A student of mine who has his Oz CPL rating is doing his CAA IMC and night rating here in USA and wants to know what are the night requirements for BCPL and IR. He will be visiting UK next month to convert his Oz license to CAA license.
Thanx alot in advance :) ------------------ "The fuel light's on! We're all going to die! ...We're all going to die!... wait, wait .....oh, my mistake-that's the intercom light." |
You don't even ned a night rating to get a BCPL; but for CPL you need to have 10 hours P1 Night or IF X-country, and 2 night P1 trips where T/O and landing are at least 65 nautical miles apart IN A STRAIGHT LINE!
Apart from that, all you really need is a night rating on your PPL. |
Thanx Capt Homesick :)

10 hrs P1 at Night? I thought it was 10hrs TT.
Please - I need to know... WWW |
Well I was reading the CAP 54 today and all it says is that you need 10 hrs total night time and a night XC. no mention of P1 time. I am still confused http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/frown.gif

Unless it's changed with JAR it's TT. I only had 6 hrs P1 and they gave me the rating.

What I actually said was that you must have 10 hours P1 NIGHT OR IF X-COUNTRY. If, like me, you used your IMC as a backup to get you out of trouble, you will need to do some x-c trips at night to get to that number.

Checked CAP 54. You can have an IR without a night rating but you cannot fly at night. For CPL issue you must have 10hrs TT at night with 5hrs PIC and a long x-country. To get this you would, of course, need a night rating.
Anybody recommend a good school to do a very quick and cheap Night Rating? Cheers WWW |
And whilst I am at it I might as well get a Night Instructor rating. Anybody help me with that one?

Night rating - Tatenhill Aviation (01283 575283), Night Instructor Rating - Halfpenny Green Flight Centre (01384 221456), after the clocks change next weekend.
Cheers DB6 Good luck with the IR, by the way. [This message has been edited by DB6 (edited 24 October 1999).] |
