Learning on a private a/c

can someone confirm the position for learning (to PPL) on an airoplane owned or partialy owned by the trainee. My understanding is that it does not need to be public transport if the instructor is not doing it for hire or reward.

The important thing is that it is wholly owned by the student.

As far as I know, it can be private CofA, and the requirement for the student to be the sole owner only applies if the instructor is paid. If the instuctor is unpaid even a syndicate owned, Private category a/c can be used.
