Strictness during flying lessons
 

I am Muhammad Zailan and I will be obtaining my Student Pilot Licence after I receive my GCE"O" Level results.As one of you is an experienced flight instructor,are you always strict with a student pilot is his or her flying skills?

Worry not Muhammad no one will shout at you, but I did recive one or two quite words when I took my PPL.
Stop worrying and just enjoy..........

We start gently, and get stricter the nearer your test you get. The day before the test is VERY strict !

I tend to approach every student different, if you don't listen, I shout, if you are a good listener but bad handler, i encourage. Every instructor different, just remember that your instructor works for you, not the other way round. If you feel your instructor is acting the pr=k, tell him/her to get lost.

As someone else said, don't worry just enjoy.

DB6 is right - a good instructor will start gently. Occasionally I need to be shouted at to get a point home, but I'm probably just thick. I never take his threats of physical violence seriously ....

The worst instructor I ever had wouldn't say boo to a goose, the best one shouts at / swears at / threatens me occasionally, but only when I need it. He's a better pilot than I'll ever be (my opinion), so I listen.

If a strict instructor worries you, how will you cope with flying when you're under other pressure - traffic, crosswinds, and so on?

Ultimately if you're not happy with the instructor, find another one, it's your money. When you find one you "click" with, stick with him/her.

The one piece of advice I would give is: never apologise for your mistakes during training. Much of the time, the FI is there to keep you safe while you practice (and learn from your mistakes).
