One good turn deserves another...I noticed in another thread that you were wondering how to post an image on the noticeboard. It is quite simple, but the image has to exist on a website somewhere.

On the top right-hand side of the list of threads, click on `faq`. The click on `Can I add HTML to my messages?`. In the paragraph sub-titled `Using HTML and/or UBB Code` click on the underlined phrase `listed here`. About 2/3 down the page, there is a section called `Adding Images`. Just follow the instructions! It basically involves typing "[img]" then the web address of the image, then "[/img]".

Ensure that when you are posting the message, it says `UBB Code is ON` to the left of the text you are typing...

The problem is the "must exist on a website first" bit.

What this forum often needs is to able to put up a quick diagram to illustrate a point

I have tried doing a diagram, inserting it into an MS word doc, pasting that doc into
the reply box, but it just leaves a blank where the diag was.

So any time you can solve that all sorts of guys would like to know!

Do you have a website at all?

If so, it should be possible to convert your Word document to a web page [HTML] and upload it using FTP, then UBB link in the message as True North suggests. It would be bit of hassle for sure and I have to declare a selfish interest in wishing to learn from your sketches!

If you don't have a website and wished to have one, I am sure that you could start a thread in the computer section and crack that issue in a short time.

Thank you very much for that. I don't have a web site but will try and rectify that either on the lines you suggest or via the help of local children........

I just need to finish an R/C model project first!!

OK Here we go. Its too windy to fly my toy aerplane so I fiddled and got this.

The force BC is what it is all about. If BC acts ahead of the CG it will make the aircraft unstable and the drift angle will increase (bad) but if it is behind the CG it will reduce the drift angle (good).

If the wheel in the diagram is a tailwheel AND IT CANNOT CASTOR (ie is locked) it will be good news and stabilse the aircraft. If it CAN castor it will be swung round by BC and so not help.

As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words!

Landing things like Spifires and Typhoons must have been a real handful with all the weight and residual thrust from the idling prop connected to a 2000hp engine!
