SRG 3108 for renewals?

I should have put renewals and revalidation -There does not seem to be a lot of guidance on the use of this, is this the only form that needs filling in (apart from license) or should we still be filling in other forms?

Skywise Notice SN2021/295 and associated SRG3108 guidance refers. Examiner fills out SRG1157 and, if required, applicant fills out SRG3108.

Thats right but it's not covered at all in those links. The only place this is actually covered in the CAA documents is standards doc 14(A). Sadly it's 8 (yes 8) years out of date so isn't any help as of course SRG 3108 didn't exist.

The CAA are completely lost in trying to manage brexit so don't be surprised the website, nor skywise is any help on this. Thankfully covered at instructor and examiner seminars so at least they know roughly what's going on.

Incidentally the SRG3108 was surreal for me. I did a reval by experience this time around and didn't have to upload a single thing. Very odd. I really cannot see why they cannot integrate the whole application process into the CAA portal. It would cut out a whole level of admin.

So why now is SRG1157 now spread over two sheets.

Ever read a CAA e-mail at the bottom......."If you don't need to print this e-mail, save paper, think of the environment..."
or along those lines.

I have always printed, filled, scanned and sent as a jpg file.
I think in past try to save the pdf, but wouldn't or i couldn't send as an attachment.

One can spend too much of ones life unravelling the self generated mess that authority has concocted. Who cares what form it is. There is only a tiny bit of information that the CAA requires following a renewal/revalidation. That is: the pilot's name and reference number, the examiner and reference number, the date, the aircraft and duration and the place the event took place. The form is irrelevant. So my advice is cross out the number of any form that is handy and write in SRG 3108 or any number that you think could be helpful. That done, make sure the information required is entered somewhere. Renumber and rename each section if it helps.

There is no action to be taken by the CAA other than to update their records. A blank sheet should be good enough.
