Dual UKCAA and EASA FI Rating

Hi all,

I'm in the opportunity to do a FI(A) course this summer in the UK. I am currently researching different schools that are offering the course with near start dates.

A quick question that I can't seem to find the exact answer to I currently hold both a UK CAA and EASA (IAA) CPL. Is it possible to add the FI(A) to both licenses separately if the course is done from a school that has dual UK CAA and EASA approvals? Or does this have to be done via two completely separate courses?

I have received mixed answers to this from the flight schools themselves, so wanted to see if anyone else has gone through the same process after Brexit. Thanks!

Not specifically for an FI course, but we do lots of courses where we issue 2 completion certificates at the end these days, one UK and one EASA. As long as the school has both approvals I can't see why they can't do one course for both.

Good luck

Again I'm not sure if the read across is accurate but I'm revalidating my TRE for both at the same type - SETRE authorised ny EASA and CAA, two lots of ppw. HtH

So long as the ATO has UK and EASA approval for the course and instructors are acceptable just 1 course required.
I believe it is also still acceptable if the ATO has EASA approval and the ATO certificate was issued before this year it would also be acceptable till the end of this year. But the latter is worth clarifying with UK CAA.

Elite pilot, you are correct the UK CAA will accept training at an EASA ATO for UK issue until the end of Dec 2022, providing the EASA ATO was in existence on 31/12/2020.

You'll also need to find an FIE who is dual qualified - but there are quite a few who are.
