IAA FE seminar

Good afternoon, my IAA PPL FE authorisation expires in May so I need to attend a seminar.

Can anyone recommend a UK based organisation that has been authorised by the IAA to conduct a Flight Examiners refresher seminar?

I have drawn a blank asking the IAA themselves - they just refer me to a document that explains how an organisation becomes approved. There does not appear to be any list of authorised providers that the IAA can supply to me.

Thanks!

Have you tried On-Track?

Yes, and they are not approved unfortunately. 😞

Have you tried contacting Simon White at the IAA? If he doesn't know there can't be one.

Thanks, I’ll give him a try...

I would surmise that prior to the UK exit from EASA the vast majority of folks from Eire did their seminars in the UK. Short term this looks like a problem for those who now need a seminar.

I assume the various UK providers would quite like to gain EASA approval for their seminars (after all the seminars were EASA compliant last year) and the fact that they have not yet done so is presumably down to difficulties obtaining that approval.

For 'difficulties' read 'extortionate costs'

Yes, I thought that might be the case. It will be interesting to see if that changes when EASA land starts running out of instructors.

The Ontrack Instructor Seminars are EASA approved but the Examiner ones are not.

The issue has also been that its too much hassle to gain the approval (as well as cost too I imagine).

Thanks for the replies, I’m hoping that my email to Simon White will get response. 🤞

If you haven't had any suggestions from the IAA, Austro Control are offering Examiner webinars. A lot of dates are booked, perhaps there will be a cancellation to meet your May deadline?

I can't post links yet, put "Austro Control Examiner webinar" into Google..

On a slightly different issue, will UK CAA accept the Austro examiner seminar for renewal of expired PPL Examiner authorisation in this post brexit times?

Doubtful, On Track are running an online Examiner seminar on 22nd April.

Many thanks, I’ll check it out as I’ve not had any response from IAA

Hi glush,

Did you ever get an answer from the IAA?
