Easa plus national licence validity
 
A lot of people have an EASA licence plus a UK National one but only have the EASA one signed on revalidation/renewals, I am presuming that the National one needs a test to get the national licence Valid or is it Valid with the signature on the EASA one - after all you don’t have a seperate 1119 form for each licence?

As both licences have the same number and there is no identification on any additional validity pages making them transferable, it is fair to assume that the EASA licence keeps the other current as they are both National Licences held on the same database at the CAA. There is nothing published on the subject so I have always maintained both at the same time, but I see no reason to assume any aditional test would be required if one had not been signed. A signature would be required to exercise the privileges and haveing made the effort to obtain both, I am surprised that the holder would not keep both signed up to avoid any confusion.
If the EASA licence was issued by another NAA then that would be a different case.

I've always signed both licences and have requested the same on revalidating my own licenses. Never a problem and keeps everything up to date. Particularly pragmatic for older pilots: it could keep them flying on a self declaration should there be a temporary hiccup with their EASA medical.

Oh dear! Whopity is quite to raise this issue of course but here we go again - for my mind a SEPL rating is just that and it shouldn't matter to what licence it is attached. Any EASA examiner from any part of EASA land so authorised should therefore sign both of the licences rating page. When we had the UK and JAR licenses the rating page was a separate piece of paper and that could be removed and slipped into the applicable licence as and when required, simple.
