FCL.625 “7 year rule”

Hello

Could someone please clarify the 7-year rule in FCL.625 (d). Does this apply to any IR held (MPA or SPA) or the particular IR for the category of aircraft that you wish to renew?

I currently hold a valid A320 IR but wish to renew my IR-SPA on SEP. However, this expired more than 7 years ago.

Thanks

No problem you hold a valid IR so the 7 year rule does not apply to you. You can just renew the SP IR. No different to changing type.

Thanks. The wording and context in that reg are a little unclear.
