good day all
i am a 15 000 hr ATPL (9 000 hrs 737) , in addition i held a grade 1 flight instructor rating and was a SACAA approved flight examiner... in feb 2020 i was declared medically unfit - this is likely to be permanent! according to regs in South Africa i am able to do instruction on all FSTD but no testing! what i would like to know is can "flight examiners" who have lost their flight medicals still test on FSTD's / Aircraft? (in the UK and Europe) thanks for the help |
The European requirements are laid out in Part FCL. To give instruction without a medical the instructor will need to hold a SFI Certificate. To become a SFE the requirements are listed in Part FCL
FCL.1010.SFE SFE – Prerequisites Regulation (EU) 2020/359 (a) SFE(A) Applicants for an SFE(A) certificate shall comply with all of the following conditions: (1) in the case of multi-pilot aeroplanes: (i) hold or have held an ATPL(A) and a type rating; (ii) an SFI(A) certificate for the applicable type of aeroplane; and (iii) have at least 1500 hours of flight time as pilots of multi-pilot aeroplanes; (3) for the initial issue of an SFE certificate, have completed at least 50 hours of synthetic flight instruction as a TRI(A) or an SFI(A) on the applicable type. |
