Expired FI(A) during arm in plaster

I had a DIY accident a few months ago resulting in a broken arm. Still awaiting return of my medical. My FI(A) is about to expire. Has anyone successfully had the CAA extend their FI expiry for a month in these circumstances to allow a flight test otherwise I’ll have to attend a seminar as well and do a renewal and as we all know seminars are not that often

No they won't extend it but you don't need a valid medical to do a FI test
