DTO Inspections
Has anyone here present had a DTO inspection or have one scheduled? We've heard nothing. Whereas I understand that one is given 3 months' notice, presumably the first inspections would have been scheduled by now.

If you were previously a RTF then you have 24 months before you will be inspected and if you are brand new, it could be up to 12 months. As you will not have raised an annual audit, what is there to inspect?

I have had training manual requested with TK per type plus operational suitability data, sent manual in January.:cool:

All you have to do is state which Training Program you are using and that is part of the declaration. If you send your own manual the charge of £885 for a non standard manual is far greater than becoming an ATO.

Is there a standard training program for helicopter type ratings?

No. Each type rating is a different training programme and each needs to be validated at a cost, now, of £906. However, If you have previously had type rating courses approved in an ATO, you can declare them as your DTO training programmes without further validation. You can also declare courses previously approved for other ATOs (with their agreement of course).

anybody had a DTO annual charge invoice ? £136, looks kinda strange, the CAA symbol is in the top left corner, and strange account numbers.

From the scheme of charges, annual DTO charge is £56. There is an entry in table 28 for £136 which says
Annual continuation charge for conducting Table 36 courses |
I thought all annual charges were invoiced on 8 April each year. Mind you, judging by the performance of Shared Services these days I'd be surprised if they could tell the time, let alone the date.

Scheme of Charges Para 6.1.1
A fixed annual continuation charge in accordance with Table 28, shall be payable on 8 April 2019 by those DTOs already in existence, i.e. that have declared in accordance with Part-DTO, as at that date. In addition, for those new DTOs (including those RTFs that had not converted to a DTO/ATO by 8 April 2019), the annual charge will be chargeable on grant of the Part-DTO approval during the 12-month period to 31 March 2020. As from 1 April 2020, the annual charges will be payable on 1 April going forward. |
We have the same invoice from CAA and we do not conduct any modular courses, we do how ever conduct Single pilot aircraft type rating courses table 38?

Reading through the scheme of charges it would appear that the reference to Table 36 is an error and should have read Table 34!
On that basis the fee payable to convert to a DTO is £56 and the annual continuation fee payable from 1st April 2020 is £136 To start a new DTO it is £181. What a shame they no longer check things for accuracy and English before they publish them. |
I'm not sure about that as Helicopter type rating's not really covered on table 34?
Sorry forgot to mention that in previous post as CAA keep referring to everything as aircraft! :rolleyes: |
Has any DTOs been inspected yet and if so what did the man form the CAA look for and how long did it take?

Isn't this where the thread began?
An inspection will want to see an annual report, has anyone been going that long to have produced an annual report? Of course not! When its been running about a year or your DTO has been involved in an accident or incident the likelyhood of an inspection is very low indeed. |
OSD's
Well boys you might not get an inspection for a while but the CAA are going through all the submitted manuals for DTO's and have requested that we add to our's OSD's and a compliance check list, didn't know that was required by a DTO either, I just hope Boris gets us out now and we can go back to National licence's this paperwork is not improving safety to me, just more time spent trying to update manuals.:ugh:
