Type Rating Instructor

I'm interested in doing the TRI course, with a view to doing some freelance work, and I'm just testing the waters. The legal requirement to start the course is 1500 multi-crew hours, however, how valuable or useful will a type rating instructor rating with a low level of experience be? Is there any value in doing the course and how much experience can be passed on by a 2000 hour instructor? Or do you need a significant experience to make the TRI rating useful?

Thanks in advance
