BEagle, Whopity
Thanks. It looks like previously somebody took the reply and made an assumption, so that is corrected now. Next problem is I will be away working which leaves the ATO without a HoT or CFI in the UK and no one to delegate to, but that is another issue.

That is correct, the UK ANO used to stipulate that the supervising FI should be present at the airfield, but neither the JAA nor EASA rules have included any such requirement however: FCL910 is quite clear about who may supervise:

That means that the FI(R) can still instruct under the supervision of a Microlight FI, provided that the FI(R) is instructing in a microlight (and of course have the microlight "conversion" signed off by an instructor legal to fly microlights to show they are competent).
Interesting if the CAA agree to microlight FI supervising a FCL SEP FI(R)at this stage pre 600kg. Certainly some microlights can fly further, faster and for longer than a C152, (if flown solo !)...

A FI(R) is subject to the limitations in the licence and the requiremednts of FCL.910. The Microlight FI, which is a National qualification is not recognised by FCL910 and therefore has no capacity with regard to any limitations and provisions required under that regulation. If a FI(R) EASA was supervised by a FI Microlight it would not fulfill the requirements of FCL.910.
