Where next? Flight instructor

I've just passed my PPL (a) and would love to train as a flight instructor.

I have a family so would not want to be away from home so have ruled out working in Commercial airlines etc. I had been planning to do atpl/cpl and instructor courses but I've been advised that I may be better to get a microlight rating and do a microlight instructor course instead of the route I was considering...

Does anyone have any opinions or ideas on this? What are the pitfalls? Anyone have any relevant experience of these options? What is the general consensus about microlight (fixed wing) instructing versus aeroplane instructing?

Many thanks

Would also be very intrested in hearing the different methods to becoming an instructor.

Microlight Instructing probably pays better however; to do well you would probably need to set up your own school with associated capital outlay. You need less hours than for a PPL FI and no extra exams. You really need to start flying microlights to see if thats what you want to do. If you are tall/heavy it may not be an option.

Thanks for reply

Thanks. Loved flying the PA28 and have had a few conversion lessons for Microlight; very different but very enjoyable. It'll probably come down to the time (need to study for 14 exams) I don't have and the additional cost (that I can't afford).
