LAPL to PPL Conversion

From CAP804:

(b) Specific requirements for applicants holding an LAPL(A). Applicants for a PPL (A) holding an LAPL(A) shall have completed at least 15 hours of flight time on
aeroplanes after the issue of the LAPL (A), of which at least 10 shall be flight instruction completed in a training course at an ATO. This training course shall include at least 4 hours of supervised solo flight time, including at least 2 hours of solo cross-country flight time with at least 1 cross-country flight of at least 270 km (150 NM), during which full stop landings at 2 aerodromes different from the aerodrome of departure shall be made.
Does this mean that the minimum hours 'training' to convert is 10, or 14?

Ie. Are the 4 hours 'supervised solo' included in, or in addition to, the 10 hours 'flight instruction'. :*

Thanks, Madeye. That's how I'd like to read it too.

Just wondered if anyone has had one issued yet with a course of just 10 hours including the supervised solo, and 15 hours total since LAPL issue?

Hi MJ,

We've done two in the last few months, unfortunately, neither has actually been issued yet, due to the CAA not being able to decide, or communicate effectively what they need sent with the application. See my thread below.
However, the training carried out doesn't seem to be a problem and they were both 10 hours training including the specified supervised solo time.

See my thread below.
Thanks, Mrmum. Yes, I was reading that.

I've noticed that the online forms say that the logbooks are required, but the paper forms don't. :ugh:

Do they really? I'll have a look. Pretty sure they didn't when we sent off the two applications.

Isn't that partly what the CCC is for, to replace posting logbooks?

Either way, with my two, one licensing officer is insisting they need logbooks and the other doesn't :ugh::ugh::ugh:

What if the hours flown for the issue of an LAPL were dual and supervised solo with an Instructor that holds an FI Rating gained without holding the CPL written exams?
Such an FI can't instruct towards EASA PPL, does that mean those LAPL hours could not be used toward the issue of a PPL?

BEagle 15th Jul 2015 11:23

No.

A little unsure of your reply BEagle, my question was somewhat ambiguous, is that no, the hours can't be used?

Mach Jump 15th Jul 2015 17:09

...does that mean those LAPL hours could not be used toward the issue of a PPL?
I think BEagle is answering your specific question above.

The conversion is from a LAPL to a PPL.

How you got your LAPL is irrelevant, once you have it.

Correct!
