NPPL test procedure

I understand the EASA requirements for conducting initial tests but I have some burning questions that I can not find the answer to:

1. Do the CAA need to be notified of an upcoming NST or GST?

2. Do the CAA require copies of the examining record (in the NPPL syllabus) sent separately by the examiner as per EASA skills tests?

3. What if a candidate fails the test? Does a failure report get issued and forwarded to the CAA?

I have been reading the FEH, 804, the standards docs and the NPPL website but am unsure about these. As you can probably guess, there is an NPPL candidate due for test..

Any help much appreciated!

1. Do the CAA need to be notified of an upcoming NST or GST?
No.

2. Do the CAA require copies of the examining record (in the NPPL syllabus) sent separately by the examiner as per EASA skills tests?
No. A copy of the examiner's report must be submitted as part of the application. You should keep a copy yourself.

3. What if a candidate fails the test? Does a failure report get issued and forwarded to the CAA?
Yes, a failure report should be issued, as it details to the applicant the reason(s) for failure and contains a copy of Reg 6 and a signature of receipt from the applicant. Use SRG 2129.

If you are unsure, you can get help via e-mail from the LAA, BGA, or BMAA:

And if only the EASA PPL exams process and paperwork was so easy.

Re the NPPL syllabus, has the candidate/examiner arranged the NST prior to the qualifying cross country, followed by the GST?

See list of common errors during the application process:

Yes, NST to be done first, but candidate already has a microlight NPPL so no need for a qualifying nav according to CAP804 part ii sect 5 part A appd 1. Took me ages to find that reference.

CAP804 Part II Section 5 Part A Appendix 1 Page 2

2.1.2.1

f) pass the NPPL (A) NST and GST in an SSEA.

I can't see any reference that says otherwise!
