PIC or not PIC on a MEP renewal?
Hi all,
Recently I've renewed my MEP-IR rating and I forgot to ask the examiner. Can I log the flight time as PIC in a MEP-IR renewal? I' in possesion of a CPL(A). Thanks. |
Assuming it was a successful completion of the flight test then you can log it as 'PICUS'. If you were unsuccessful it will have to logged as 'PUT.'

Thanks a lot Flybmi.

Nice try,
The MEP PIC time is expensive to get! I still haven't come up with a cheaper way of doing it. |
Assuming it was a successful completion of the flight test then you can log it as 'PICUS'. If you were unsuccessful it will have to logged as 'PUT.' I see the OP is in Spain - under the pre-EASA regulations of some other European countries such as France the time would have been logged as PUT. This was possibly the case also in Spain. I don't know whether EASA has standardised this yet. Don't assume that EASA has automatically incorporated UKCAA logic! Try reading here first: http://easa.europa.eu/agency-measure...20Part-FCL.pdf |
At the discretion of the authority I would guess, if it doesn't say you cannot log it that way then as long as it's sensible EASA won't get involved
|
PICUS can only be logged with the agreement of the PIC, usually by their
signing the Log Book to that effect. As the OP says this matter was not discussed with the Examiner then I would suggest PICUS is not possible in this case. |
Good point.
Perhaps try and find the examiner and ask him what he wants you to put in your log and ask him to sign if it's PICUS. |
As flybmi said above. You don't have to ask permission. It's all in Cap 804 under what you can log. Alternatively look in the flight examiners handbook.
What you can't do is log it as P2 as it's a single pilot aircraft, unless you're under an AOC and have specific approval to operate it multi crew....cont. p94.... |

LA is correct,
If the PICUS entry is not countersigned it doesn't count. You would need the agreement and signature of the PIC. |
