As this is a thought experiment and you've already suggested undergear configurable for nose or tailwheel, why not also engineer this new training type with configurable stick or yoke?

It does lead me to the amusing vision of the instructor flying with a stick and the student with a yoke, though. :hmm:

Well its not unheard of for the student to have a yoke and the instructor to have a set of mole grips.

Although it should both be stick if for nothing else than to stop instructors from getting a wack in the nuts on the full and free check. Although it would be pretty easy to have a floating short stick to replace a yoke. I actually quite like being able to move my legs around without the stick getting in the way on nav ex's.

I would like a stick and a low wing design.

In my opinion one of the best training aircraft around is the katana.
It is close to your requirements.

Another really nice trainer is the aquila.

It feels heavier, than the katana.

They both need between15 and 20l Mogas.
