BGI AGI IRI
hi everyone
i hold an faa atpl and a jaa atpl what is the procedures to become an AGI and IRI? correct if i am wrong: FOI - required for all levels BGI - i am not sure what is good for, can i go straight for the AGI? AGI - good for teaching pvt and commercial and atpl ground school IRI - good for teaching ifr ground school considering that i would like to be able to teach ground school at all levels from pvt through atpl, including ifr, do i have to take the BGI exam as well or after the FOI i can take the AGI directly? what is the purpose of the BGI if allows you to teach private pilots only? maybe it is less time consuming? just wondering! can i sit the FOI and the AGI on the same day? are they two separate exams? is it true that it is a different certificate disctinct from the atpl ticket? i mean is it a different card? sorry for the confusion but i am trying to put some order on this thorny matter! baobab72 |
Forget the BGI. The AGI supercedes it and the exam is barely more difficult. With the AGI you can teach the theory for any FAA certificate except instrument rating. Add the IRI & you can teach the theory for anything.
You will also have to do the principles of instructing exam, whatever it's called. You can do them all on the same day and get your results immediately on conclusion of each exam. You might need an instructor sign-off to do the exams. Can't remember. Make an appointment at the most convenient FSDO & get your AGI & IGI issued. It's a separate card from the pilot certificate. Note: Just about every application for a certificate is registered online. Make sure an instructor gets you enrolled online for this - it saves a lot of mucking around. |
You get a BGI due to the fact that you are a CFI.
AGI and/or IGI never expire but allow you to get a Gold Seal CFI... |
Oh, yes,. Forgot about the Gold Seal bit if you're a CFI.
