Help starting a registered facility.
Hi I am looking into starting my own PPL school, if anyone out there has some good (sensible) advice i.e. what are the insurance requirements, pilots order book contents, etc or where I might find the requirements as I have searched the caa database to no avail. I also need to know if there are any minimum requirements for the aircraft i.e for the NPPL is there a requirement for an AI, transponder etc. has any one had any dealings with AOPA on this and are they likely to help?
Many Thanks |
CAA requirements now in Standards Document 11:
http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/33/Standar...V08%202009.pdf There are plenty of Flying Order Books online - try Google. The aircraft need to be suitably equipped. See NPPL syllabus and JAR-FCL syllabus. |
Many thanks

The registration process is fairly straight forward however they will want to know where you are going to operate from i.e. licensed aerodrome. Who your instructors are and what aeroplanes you intend to use.
There is no requirement to have any specific documentation other than the things you need for flying, NOTAMS met etc which are all available on the web; and of course the aircraft docs. Any flying club/school would be well advised to operate as a limited company to reduce liabilities on individuals. Aircraft are required to be insured by law but it would be well worth making sure the club is well insured and that it covers instructors as well. I don't think you will find any FOBs on line but if you want one PM me. |
Hi, does the CAA need to give you an approval or visit the building you are teaching from before you start the training? Or can you commence the training once you have satisfied the standards document?
Regards. |
Once you have submitted the Application and they issue a Certificate you can operate. No inspection or approval required, just registration. Their main concern is that you are at, or have access to a licensed aerodrome.
