ground exmainer
Hello all,
Just a quick one, is there an approval route to becoming a ground school examiner for PPL? RT and 7 subject approved marker or is it just a suitable person? Thanks N |
Ground Examiner:
Suitable person, Sponsored by school that wants you to be one. Show that school needs one. Fill in form from CAA website. Mail cheque. Wait for certificate. Lots of expense, no reward (other than ego). RT examiner is different. Suitable person. Sponsorship from school that wants you to be one. Show that school needs one. Application to CAA. If initially accepted, receive study pack containing one RT exam route. Read/learn/inwardly digest CAP 413 and all study material. Arrange examination date with CAA. Sit communication written paper. Sit "good examining techniques" written paper. Conduct a full brief, RT test and debrief with CAA man playing "candidate" Hear debrief from examiner and result of examination. Either wait for certificate and rest of test routes to be forwarded in your examiner pack, or sulk over rejection letter with a beer. Lots more money - some return. |
do I detect a note of cynicism:E

In my reply?
No, honestly - not in *this particular* question. There will be in some others - but this one was meant to be genuine and in single syllable language. |
Its amazing the number of people who want to be Examiners; it is not cheap, only a limited number are required and the rewards are minimal.
On the other hand, anyone can set up a course and teach the PPL groundschool and RT. It can be hard work but it can also be very rewarding financially. Clearly the perceived importance of being an examiner overrides all other considerations! |
