RAFA scholarsip FTO's

It would appear that the RAF scholarship scheme is back in the form of an RAFA 13hr award.. .. .Any idea which FTO’s are going to provide this training, or will it be kept ‘in house’ as it were.. .. .Before the powers that be add a padlock and move this to military aircrew or somewhere lese irrelevant, I have posted this here as the chosen FTO’s will obviously be a very worthy source of employment for instructors, as was the case when Tayside held the RAF contract.

The word on the street is there may be a re-allocation of a 12 hour course for air cadets and the RAFA / Government office is to make the final decision in April, this leaves it very late to organise employment and training for instructors for the 2002 season. It was always good for hour building and gaining lots of experience in teaching, it will be a shame if it were to end from the cadets point of view too, it started a lot of young people into flying who would not normally have been able to afford it, many going on in later life to complete a PPL and even CPL.

Juggernaut. .. .It’s not a case of ‘word on the street’.. .. .The new scheme (which is in fact 15hrs0, has been advertised and the closing date was 28th Feb.. .. .The big question is WHERE are these kids going to fly, and, as you rightly point out, are there the qualified RAF approved instructors to train them??. .. .www.rafa.org.uk/flyingscholaships

Tayside are ideally placed to carry out any new contract, having as they do a number of instructors who are already CFS approved from last year.

Word is Tayside might not get it! Anyone know who's in the running or who is likely to get it?
