Flying Instructors & Examiners A place for instructors to communicate with one another because some of them get a bit tired of the attitude that instructing is the lowest form of aviation, as seems to prevail on some of the other forums!

Looking for part time vacancies over the winter

Work at my current flight school has dried up over winter for part timers!

Still restricted, but nearly at 100 hours instructional. I'm looking to get some regular students, it's been mostly trial lessons recently.

Would it be a wasted effort to start looking for a new position over winter? Has anyone been successful in changing to a new school during the winter period?

Most places go very quiet, you'll struggle. Best bet is to send your availability to all flying clubs near you.

It usually will dry up for part timers in the winter.

What part time stuff have you been doing? Like three days a week or something?

Try getting your night restriction removed and marketing yourself for that. A lot of the full time guys won't take it on as it's a long day for them, and not everyone enjoys the risks of night SEP flying.
