Flying Instructors & Examiners A place for instructors to communicate with one another because some of them get a bit tired of the attitude that instructing is the lowest form of aviation, as seems to prevail on some of the other forums!

Instructor Standards….

Beginning to get me down, so I thought I’d get it off my chest.

Two schools, one airfield. Two flying order books, one airfield SOP’s. Seen some questionable airmanship decisions recently.

My students see the same stunts as I do and look at me for justification. Getting sick of shrugging my shoulders and saying “That’s not the way it should be done!”

1. Joining traffic to circuit traffic….. “Do you mind if I cut in front?”
2. Lining up in-front of landing traffic …. “I’ll be quick…”
3. Busting the committal height with departing traffic rolling…. “Short Finals to land”
4. Racing to the holding point to get in front of other traffic.
5. "XXX for rejoin, can you ask Ops to put the kettle on please?"

What are their students learning from these transgressions? I'm not saying I'm the best, but at least I try and set a good example with my flying and radio work.

Discuss.

Or perhaps one school needs their manager to have a chat with the airfield manager

A good airfield manager would already know this is going on so the first step is to get another one
