Flight hours vs. flight testing

Hello,

do any of you know what is the minimum amount of flight hours required on specific type of aircraft prior to start its testing as a CAT 2 test pilot? I am mainly interested in CS-25. I was always sure it is 500h TT, now according to CAA it should be 1000h TT + 400h PIC. And apparently PICUS does not count. Is it really like this?

Thanks!

As a test pilot, those hours sound extremely high and unrealistic. A test pilot is a test pilot, a TP2 might be coming in to do lower risk testing later in a prototype programme and have virtually no time on type, surely?

Is a document somewhere possibly mixing this up with the EASA requirement for 1000hrs on class (e.g. aeroplane, helicopter) and an IR, in order to be considered for approval as a TP?
