What's with the Cirrus SR20?
 

One of my students quizzed me up about the "new" aircraft design Cirrus SR20 - triblade prop, allegedly high performance, lalala but what's with the vertical parachute designed to "lower the aircraft and its occupants safely to the ground" in the event of an emergency? Unrealistic expectations aside, wouldn't a parachute substantial enough to support an a/c and occupants weigh about a billions pounds? Has anyone ever flown this thing? Can someone give me a review?
