Fuel dip system. Trubshaw

In Test Pilot Trubshaw refers to a fuel dip system in the stall requirements, what is it?

Not my area of expertise, but in my copy of Handling the Big Jets by Davies (3rd edition), he mentions fuel dippers as a means of preventing damage from excessively high turbine temperatures. If I understand it correctly, the fuel dipper sensed a significant rise in turbine temp and cut the fuel for a short period in an attempt to prevent overtemp. Davies mentions it as a way of handling intake upsets associated with stalls, or military requirements such as gun firing.

Hope this helps
