EASA flight test regulations
 

Hi,

I am currently working on my thesis related to flight testing. In it's introduction, I wish to describe, among other general issues, regulations concerning flight testing in Europe. I know only about FCL.820. There are of course many other documents available on the internet but.. I am not certain which are valid and which are not. Could you help me with this issue?

The FCL.820 is one. Give a look to the Commission regulation (EU) 2015/1039 and what is relevant in Part-21.

Off-the-top of my head, the EASA template Flight Test Operations Manual is freely available on their website, it has been most useful the twice I have produced a FTOM for a new organisation. I'll check and add a link to this post if I find it.

That FTOM template is good. The basic law for flight test is clear and easy. However, to my mind, the associated AMC and GM for TP and FTE qualification are classic gold-plating. I have been lucky, on of my FTOM was for an organisation doing sub-2000 kg aeroplanes while the other is for something that is neither aeroplane nor helicopter and the AMC and GM are very specific in that is what they apply to, so in both cases we have been able to negotiate unique AMC for our FTOMs.

I know that except for EASA regulations, there are also some national ones which are in force as well. Does any of you know how does it work? Where is the borderline between those two types?
