787 Flight Testing Completed - Lightning?
The news is that they finally got it done. Does anyone know taking a lightning strike was done during this period? It would seem that the non-conductive airframe lightning protection would need to be verified by an actual strike.

but that wouldn't be FLIGHT testing, I've only heard "Flight testing" was done, but that doesn't mean the certification process is finished.. but I could be wrong

One of the 787 test aircraft was struck by lightning last year, with no damage.
Being hit by lightning is not part of flight test though, you certify for that through analysis and getting some components exposed in a simulated lightning test laboratory. |
Lightning strike: ? only once ?
"... test aircraft was struck by lightning last year, with no damage ..."
About thirty years ago, during natural- icing testing on VA#3 (original B767 testing), it suffered three or four strikes during one test (one day) [memory now fading]. The metal skin did show the strikes. |
