EGPWS
Who are giving out sounds to the EGPWS systems found in Boeing 737 NG? I hear the same voice in different airplanes but often different accent or "temper" in the voice. Do they change their sounds often?
I saw that in SAS Braathens and Widerøes Boeing 737 Classic, NG, M80, M90, DHC8 100/300 had exactly same voices for the EGPWS. Does anyone know the producent of the voices and the system? Same producent as the TCAS II system? (With the RA msg as "Traffic, traffic" and "Adjust vertical speed, adjust") Have a nice day everyone! |
I think its the engineers from the companies who manufacture the systems eg honeywell and some are computer generated.

Tones (on classic 737s & similar era aircraft) came from a special Pacific Electrodynamics generator and have become pretty much the standard even though digitally produced now. The only new tones are the "Attenson" (BONG) which was a specific waveform from the CAA which also required & codified the Autopilot Disconnect "Cavalry Charge". |
On one of the aircraft I work, on I'm sure that the Queen says "Radio altimeter":D
