Have they already taken over Servisair at LHR?
I have not heard anything about Servisair at LHR, are you getting confused because Servisair bought Aviance in the regions and at the same time Dnata bought Aviance and Plane in LHR?

Any more substance to the rumours?

andi_uk 25th March 2012 16:17

as far as I know they (Dnata) were interested in acquiring Cobalt Ground Solution (AF/KL Ground Handling in London ) ... ... ...

LHRKLBD 27th March 2012 12:36

Menzies have also shown interest in purchasing Cobalt Ground Solutions, at LHR.

aex 27th March 2012 15:21

Do Air France-KLM want to sell Cobalt Ground Solutions?

If so is that because it is not doing well financially or because they want to concentrate on their core business?

750XL 28th March 2012 12:51

I don't know if it's been announced, but I believe Menzies have bought out 'Flight Support' at MAN.

Also noticed 4 brand new Swissport hi-lo's on the M56 heading for MAN. They've got a fair bit of brand new equipment stored over near the hangars, I assume for the TCX contract which goes over to them on Saturday.

More redundancies announced at Servisair, the ship is sinking

Bigbluebroxi 28th March 2012 14:36

Servisair secure emirates contract at GLA for 3 years.

Also recent extended VS contract until 2014.

Flybe at LGW

Just heard Flybe are now using MZ at LGW

750XL 2nd April 2012 14:50

In addition to Menzies buying Flight Support at MAN, they have now won the contract for Etihad underwing

The96er 11th April 2012 15:30

Just reported on Skynews that BA handling at LGW is to be transferred to a handling agent. Anyone know who it's going to ?

750XL 11th April 2012 20:29

Menzies I'd assume?

Skipness One Echo 11th April 2012 23:30

BBC News - British Airways plans to cut jobs at Gatwick Airport

Looks like ramp is going to be outsourced yet handling remains in house but downsized? Anyone confirm?

The96er 11th April 2012 23:49

Probably too risky to transfer all functions in one go, i.e Ops, Dispatch and check-in functions as these require a lot more systems training. The day will come though.

cjhants 12th April 2012 07:27

Trial run before outsourcing LHR?

yotty 12th April 2012 10:36

Gatwick Cuts.

I think Aircraft Handling is going too. Engineering is spared along with a significant number of check in personnel. TRMs are going as well. Allegedly cost savings are 22% to 40% per annum. Cuts effective from November 2012.

MD11Man 12th April 2012 16:26

Not wanting to disrepect any TRM, some of em get paid more than a new FO just out of flight training, having to pay the bank whoknowshowmuch.

As bad as it may feel for lots of people, somewhere, commercially, it might make sense?!

tomkins 13th April 2012 11:27

With all due respect, why should a TRM not get paid more than a new out of training FO.He/she has probably many years with the company, much experience and heavy responsibilities in his job,and he will not be earning the salary that the FO will be earning once he has gained a bit of experience.

MD11Man 13th April 2012 12:12

Make your 'a bit' about 7 years and then we might find an agreement.

As I said, no disrespect to any TRM - if you're in the board of a company and find out outsourcing it might save you 20-40%, why would you not?

tomkins 13th April 2012 12:43

Over a 45 year career 7 years is a bit IMHO.I was just addressing the point that you seem to think that a new out of training fo has some great value .You are of course right that outsourcing would appear to be a great cost reducing excercise for management, however this slash and burn policy that seems to be going on at LGW will touch the lives of all other BA workers including pilots ,terms and conditions for all are on a downward slide, appart from those few people put there to carry out this business who will be taking home a nice little bonus once the job done, which will no doubt be in six figures.

Bigbluebroxi 13th April 2012 17:36

Yet again the ground staff are getting shafted in the airport world.

Its an absolite farce the level of pay that folk are expected to work for when you see the level of responsibility placed on their shoulders, especially a TRM/TRC/Dispatcher.

£6.80 p/h. An absolute abomination.

MD11Man 13th April 2012 21:47

tomkins,

I fully agree with what you say about 6 figure people at the top deciding on how much pilots get. Also, I don't think every new FO is a fantastic addition to a company - maybe I'm thinking that somewhere, far away, it's 'meant to be' like that after haven taken the biggest financial risk in a (young?) life.

On the other hand... 6.80/hr?! Where do you get that from, if I may ask, Bigbluebroxi?

750XL 13th April 2012 22:28

That's the going rate for dispatchers at one of the worlds largest handling agents :yuk:

speedbird_481_papa 14th April 2012 08:25

God I'm on more than that being a check-in / gate agent!!! That Is extremely shocking! Mind you, I don't work for the same company as what that dispatch is on ;-) :ok:

750XL 14th April 2012 15:38

Where I work, dispatchers are the least well paid out of everyone in the company!

LHRKLBD 15th April 2012 14:43

Lufthansa ticketing staff are being transferred back to MENZIES as of 20th April.

speedbird_481_papa 16th April 2012 20:55

Is that at LHR?

LHRKLBD 17th April 2012 08:43

Yeah at LHR, sorry forgot that part.

speedbird_481_papa 22nd April 2012 10:27

Lots of changes happening everywhere then all over by the sounds of things! Cheaper for the airline to contract it to a handler. Are the rest of the LH handling done by a ground handler on self handled at LHR?

speedbird_481_papa 11th May 2012 08:34

Edited my Bristol thread on page one to show that Menzies now handle Titan charters! Again, watch this space for more to be announced!

holymley 21st May 2012 22:21

Wow you won the contract for the mail planes we no longer have.

750XL 21st May 2012 22:54

Strong rumours of Lufthansa / Swiss leaving Servisair for Menzies at MAN

Bigbluebroxi 22nd May 2012 10:50

Are servisair going to have any contracts left at MAN?

speedbird_481_papa 22nd May 2012 17:39

Hate to say it are Servisair going to have any contracts anywhere at this rate?!

Wow you won the contract for the mail planes we no longer have.
No not the mail planes anymore, Bristol Airport got rid of them! Its a B737 ad-hoc charter we are going to be operating for business passengers flying out on conferences and European meetings etc and if another airline sub-charters them. Not much, but still something extra :ok:

750XL 22nd May 2012 18:42

Considering the state of Servisair management, both locally at Manchester and regionally its no surprise we're losing contracts left right and centre :{ 'Cutting back' on things like general staff to ridiculous numbers that can't support the flights we have meanwhile not a single person from management has been up for redundancy, it makes my blood boil

holymley 23rd May 2012 11:28

So once in a blue moon then. last time i saw titan was 2 years ago! So probably would get nowhere near the losss of BMI BABY which at least was a regular visitor during the winter.

speedbird_481_papa 24th May 2012 07:16

Well the first flight out of Bristol is meant to take place in June. Then we are meant to be doing quite a few for them after that for the rest of 2012.

The last Titan I can remember seeing in BRS was December 2011, when Easyjet had a couple of tech a/c so chartered their B767 to accommodate two flights worth out to Geneva.

Speedbird

Whispers of Servisair in for a big contract at MAN :ok:

JackRalston 2nd June 2012 16:19

Servisair contract

Oh no...I don't want to even think who they might be taking considering the rumours I've heard! Please don't be who I think it is...

Bigbluebroxi 2nd June 2012 22:57

Servisair take on Sunwings contract at GLA. Also continuing contract for deicing BA at several stations.

Whats the big contract at MAN?

Charlie Fish 2nd June 2012 23:29

Menzies now covering all BA T1 ramp work at LHR?

....is this true?

Never thought I'd see anything other than BA liveried kit on BA aircraft at T1.

Is this the start of the demise of BA self handling on the BA ramp at LHR. T5? Is that next? :bored:

750XL 3rd June 2012 01:26

Servisair are supposedly taking on the big yellow Scheduled/Charter airline Swissport have :ok:
